Ranch Weekend: Take One....
So.. Where to begin...? This will be a somewhat abbreviated entry..but I'll try to hit all the salient points... :) Took a technical Friday off from werk, this week.. Ran a call..but it was on the way and no skin off my teeth.. Got down to the GF's by 1pm.... 'Bout two hours later, a trio of folk arrived to look at horses (for those who do not know, who may be legion, my GF's mother runs a horse ranch..Arabians..and I have been going down there every weekend to help out with chores, fer the past month+, since her mother broke her ankle...).. There followed two't'three hours of showing horses..mainly stallions..and RaNae (the GF) werked her adoreable butt off in putting the horsies thru their paces for the potential buyers... Couple scary moments, in there, as this or that horse reared/jumped..but she handled it all in stride.. As if any 1200 lb horse could never pose a threat to a tiny human... :) Long story short; the buyers were impressed..both with the horses and the folk showing them... Two horses sold..mebbe a third.. Lots of accessorial conversation..which somehow turned to turtles..heh... Won't detail, but..all goes well, the GF will be getting a Yellowfoot tortoise, a Redfoot..possibly a Star tortoise..and I may end up with an albino Cornsnake and 3 geckos... On a side note.. I've made a totally unrelated deal to recieve a Spotted turtle for the purpose of care and medical treatment..and will likely be taking a Lop bunny into my care, this week... Am looking into applying fer official "Zooilogical Garden" status.. *chuckle* Am home now..and wish I weren't... So much more to tell.. Did I mention I'm immune to electric fences..? ;) But..is enuff fer t'nite... Will werk on catching up as the weekends go on.... Salut..! Another day at the Ranch...
Yes, yes.. I know... I've been sorely absent from here, of late... The surprising thing 'bout that is I've has sooooooo much to talk about, since my last entry.. Mind, since most revolves around my new Love and my time spent away from home, I shall do my best to endeavor to post regular updates..under some variation of the title I've given to this one.... Studdy horses, 70lb bales of hay..electric femces.. You can find it all here.. ..assuming I actually 'member t'post... ;) Current Mood: lovedCurrent Music: "Run For the Roses" - Dan Fogleberg | | Wednesday, January 12th, 2005 | | 12:14 am |
Send them your heart, so they'll know that someone cares
"Mommy! A tsunami! You heard your young child say. But when you reached to take his hand, your son was washed away. Mommy! A tsunami! You heard his sister scream. You tried to run, but couldn¹t move. You woke. It was a dream. For us, a figment of our minds while blanketed in bed. But for those who were swept to sea, this nightmare left them dead. Did panic fill their final thoughts? I pray they sensed God near. I hope their death was swift so that they had no time to fear. So why should we be spared such grief? Do we deserve to live? But since we dream what others saw, can we do less than give? For mommies robbed of babies, for husbands who lost wives, For kids without their moms and dads, for all who have survived, Let's give help to the homeless, let's fund the food they need, Let's pray for people we don't know who claim a different creed. Regardless of religion, let's act on what we see, For God is pleased when we reach out. We are one family." How you can help with the Tsunami Relief effort... I don't see myself as taking part, at all...
Long ago, in someone else's lifetime.. Someone with my name..who looked alot like me.. Came to know a girl and made a promise.. She only only had to say, and that's where I would be.... Yes.. I'm that far gone in love.... Current Mood: lovedCurrent Music: "Someone Else's Story" - Chess Soundtrack | | Sunday, January 2nd, 2005 | | 10:41 pm |
"..ten years older, and I've finally found my stride.."
Happy New Year's, all... My only resolution is to do better for myself and those I love..and to post more, here.. This venue truly helps.. I have so little taken advantage of such, in the year just past.... Entering this new year, one has the whole of my heart..but there are others that I care for..and I need to work that all out.. I cannot stand to make another mistake.. I cannot lose what I've only just found.. "Old feelings make it hard to describe..just what it means to me.... I lost half my life to "wisdom" so forgive me if I come off sounding bitter, if my words push you away.. If I seem surprised to see you lying here, in front of me..." I am happy..very happy.. And I'm so very afraid I'll lose that.... Current Mood: pensiveCurrent Music: "Question Everything" - 8stops7 | | Tuesday, December 7th, 2004 | | 10:23 pm |

Little fighter that he was, he curled up under the desk..at my feet..a bit afore midnight. That was the last he moved... Rest in peace, Reeboks..yer better off without the strain you've been under, and I love you... See the dog and the butterfly....
Okay.. Dogs chase things..its what they do..ne..? So tell me.. WHAT THE FUCK BUSINESS DID A US GAME WARDEN HAVE SHOOTING MY GF's DOG THIS PAST WEEKEND..?!?! Backstory: MY GF lives on a reasonably large parcel of rural land in the NY Southern Tier. While she was up here, this weekend just past, it seems that Pishka, her barely-out-of-puppy-stage German Shepherd mis was out running the property and crossed over into another owner's land. This owner called the Wardens to tell them that dogs were chasing deer on their property. Ferget coyotes and such that deplete livestock, which the Wardens say they can do nothing about.. Mention a pet doing what comes naturally and *bam* they're out like a shot... Fer the evil crime of chasing deer, Bandit ( the neighbor's dog, who stole my shoe a month+ back) and Piska (tho' no body has been recovered, yet) are now dead.. My GF will be taking t'morrow off from work to try and find/retrieve Piska's body.. :( From what I have been able to garner, the law states that a pet that kills/runs a deer to death needs be shot.. From what I have been able to gather, the deer was simply exhausted and eventually got up and ran away. Two household pets are now dead. Gov't is unaccountable. But, wait.. I'm not done... The pet/dog owners are now being *fined* for letting their dogs run and "kill" a deer..a deer that ran away and is now prolly happily munching on grass.. Dogs that the Warden shot dead... I can't even begin do describe how PISSED I am.... Anyone who knows anything about the regulations that allow such to happen..anything even close.. Please let me know.. I am not about to let this lie.... Current Mood: angryCurrent Music: "If I Had A Rocket Launcher" - Bruce Cockburn | | 12:21 am |
